Date Posted: | Photograph taken inside the Vickers' shipyard, Barrow-in-Furness. For many years the shipyard was owned by Vickers-Armstrong. Locally the yard was referred to as 'Vickers'. In recent years it has had several changes in ownership and as at 2020 is owned by BAe Systems. The older people in town still refer to the shipyard as 'Vickers' although this usage is gradually dying out | |
