"Dear Aunty Wick and Uncle Sorry I've been so long in sending the card. I'm afraid I shall not be able to get along to Wimbledon this year. It's great weather and plenty of tennis. I feel a horrible '-unreadable-' too. Yesterday I played in a gents doubles with a fellow -unreadable- who plays for Scotland - terrible Love Eddie”

Date Posted: The Norbreck was originally built as a country house, before being expanded and concerted into a hotel. The ballroom was added in the early 1930s. At that time it was regarded as being very up-market. Between 1940 and 1951 it was used by the government for various purposes. Since 1951 it has been used again as a hotel, currently being operated as the Britannia Norbreck Castle Hotel. It has over 400 rooms and significant conference facilities, in the past having hosted political party conferences. Postcard E610 shows the exterior of the hotel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norbreck_Castle_Hotel
