"Grange-over-Sands 5th August, 1938 We have not managed to do the Duddon Valley walk, but have had a delightful 3 weeks here + are completely thrilled with the scenery. In all we have seen 9 lakes, but I think I prefer the little tarns. I hope you are now having a very good holiday. Yours, Louise Mead”

| Date Posted: | Hampsfell is a small ridge around 1 mile north of Grange-over-Sands. The hospice was built in 1834 by the then Vicar of Cartmel as a shelter for walkers on Hampsfell.
