Date Posted: The school in the village of Seascale on the West Cumbrian coast, was built as a girl’s boarding school in 1882, run by four Miss Wilson sisters. It was situated on the Banks overlooking the Irish Sea. It closed as a school in 1967, and is now the 2-star Hotel Calder House plus a number of private houses. The fine brickwork in the original Sankey photo has been painted over at some point. From a postcard with a 1930 postmark.
