Date Posted: There were numbers of Belfast workers in Vickers. Regarding the reference to beer: on 1 August 1915 the Central- gave notice that the hours for the sale of intoxicating liquors on weekdays would be further reduced to between noon and 2.30 p.m. and 6 and 9 p.m. whilst Sunday hours would remain unchanged. Vickers workers were in two shifts, the women three, some men would work overtime and rested in-between; they had little leisure time.
