"May 11th, *(Briarthwaite)*-This word was crossed out and put in brackets by the writer- County Hotel, Ambleside We are having marvellous weather - warm sunny days *every*-underlined- day - only 2 showers the first morning. The views are grand - mts so clear - The trees are lovely in every shade of green & yellow & browny shades - such a variety - We walked to Watendlath *which you recommended*-words inserted as superscript- It *is*-underlined- the most beautiful walk I have been - The views over Derwentwater & up Borrowdale were fine - it might have been early morning light - as we were at Friar's Crag at 9.30 that day. Fr. Watendlath we walked down to Rosenthwaite, more grand views - We move to Ambleside tomorrow - Hope you are all well Love from Edith”

Date Posted: Although the postmark date is illegible, the postcard must have been sent between 1934-1936, as the stamps used were only issued in 1934 and George V died in 1936.
