Date Posted: The word Cenotaph derives from a Greek word, meaning empty. It is an empty tomb or monument, in honour of a person or persons whose remains are elsewhere.This one is grade 11 listed and made from Potland Limestone. Originally built in 1919 to commemorate the 616 Barrowvian men who lost their Lives in combat during World War 1.
