Barrow Central Signal Box
Early 20th century
Looking north-east at a large, brick-built signal box with slate roof and finials standing between two railway lines. Looking out of an open end window at the front and leaning on a metal bar above a light coloured diamond sign, is the smartly-dressed, moustached signalman wearing a three-piece suit. Steps lead up the right side of the box, protected by a brick wall with round-topped coping bricks, while 'Central North' is displayed on a large sign on the front. (Title amended from 'Extr')
