Kent Estuary from near Heversham

Early twentieth century

A winter scene, looking southwest from above the A6 south of Heversham over the Kent Estuary. In the foreground the single-track Arnside to Hincaster railway line which stretches to the left middle distance where it turns and crosses the Bela Viaduct west of Milnthorpe. In the distance the estuary is crossed by embankment from Grange then the Kent Viaduct to Arnside. A modest telegraph line runs alongside the railway while a large number of lines may be seen at the top of the photo above the main road.
