Orcades launch - vessel entering Walney Channel, drag chains tight. Union flag and Vickers house flags fluttering from the bow. Walney Island in the background with some of Vickerstown housing estate in view. Orcades was requisitioned by the Admiralty during WW2 and used as a troopship but sunk by U172 off South Africa in 1942. Photographer in the image could be Edward or Raymond Sankey.
