Orcades built at Vickers Barrow-in-Furness for the Orient Line. Launched 7th December 1936 and used for the NZ and Australian route. Requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1939 and used as a troopship. Torpedoed and sank by U-Boat 172 off South Africa in Oct 1942. Vessel being pulled by 2 tugs through Ramsden Dock to the dock gates.
