Fenella
16 December 1936
Fenella built by Vickers Armstrong, Barrow for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, was launched on 16th December 1936. Seen here at the end of the top yard slipway, entering Walney Channel with workers straying on to the slipway for a better view. Requisitioned by the Admiralty during World War Two as a troopship, Fenella was sunk during the Dunkirk evacuation on the 29th May 1940 whilst under the command of Captain W. Cubbon and crewed mainly by Manxmen.
