Oronsay fire

Oronsay, was launched on 30th June 1950 but caught fire during its fitting out at Buccleuch Dock on 28th Oct 1950. It burnt for three days and a considerable amount of damage was caused. Photo taken from thw High Level Bridge, Michaelson Road, shows vessel on fire with a 20 degree port list caused by the tugboat fire hydrants' water entering its bilges.
