250T crane lifting Holland Class Submarine

1904-1905

Image of a photograph of Holland Class submarine (possibly 05) being lifted by the 250 ton crane, possibly into the dock or onto the cradle of a cargo ship deck unknown. Submarine is not fitted out eg periscope, binnacle, propeller, vent pipework etc. Conning tower of this submarine appears to be taller than the first Holland class submarines indicating this is a later image taken 1903/4. Warship in image unknown, possibly HMS Natal. High level bridge in the background.
