Coaster SS Kirkham
Circa 1910
A very heavily laden small coastal steamer SS Kirkham (launched on the Clyde 1896) with Midland Railway Funnel colours. She is pictured at sea in the channel of the river Wyre. The vessel has very little freeboard and, despite it being a calm sea, water is breaking over the deck amidships. Probably carrying sand.
