Chinese Cruiser Hai Chi

View of front of older style cruiser from the dockside. Decorative feature on bow. Ship tied up on her starboard side in Anchor Basin. Railway shed and sidings on left with one open wagon and a few men on dockside. Paddle steamer, cargo ship, and small dock cranes and in background. In 1911, Hai Chi visited the United Kingdom to participate in the fleet review held to mark George V's coronation. Built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1896-99. Was the biggest ship built by China until the Cold War. Her crew were helping to train the crew of Ying Swei that was building in Barrow.
