Chinese Cruiser Hai Chi
1911
View looking across Anchor Basin at starboard quarter of ship. Large flag flying at stern. Small dockside travelling crane on left. In 1911, Hai Chi visited the United Kingdom to participate in the fleet review held to mark George V's coronation. Built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1896-99. Was the biggest ship built by China until the Cold War. Her crew were helping to train the crew of Ying Swei that was building in Barrow.
