SS Furnessia
c. 1911
Ship in the process of being towed stern first into Ramsden Dock with assistance of tugs. Picture taken from south side of dock entrance. Two men standing in a small dinghy, one sculling and one holding one end of throwing line. Passenger and cargo ship completed 1881 by Barrow Shipbuilding Company for Barrow Steam Ship Company (Later Anchor Line). Worked Glasgow - New York Route. November 1911 sold to Thos W Ward Ltd, and partly dismantled at Barrow, before being towed to Preston and finally demolished there in 1912. See 1247 and 1257
