Ship in the channel under assistance of tug Cartmel at stern. 2nd tug heading out to assist. Before being turned and towed stern first into Ramsden Dock. Picture taken from south side of dock entrance. Leading light in background. Passenger / cargo ship completed 1881 by Barrow Shipbuilding Company for Barrow Steam Ship Company (Later Anchor Line). Worked Glasgow - New York Route. November 1911 sold to Thos W Ward Ltd, and partly dismantled at Barrow, before being towed to Preston and finally demolished there in 1912. See 1244, 1247 and 1257
