Chinese Cruiser Hai Chi
c. 1911
View of ship in Walney Channel departing Barrow under the control of a tug at her head. Biggar Village in background. In 1911, Hai Chi visited the United Kingdom to participate in the fleet review held to mark George V's coronation. Built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1896-99. Was the biggest ship built by China until the Cold War. Her crew were helping to train the crew of Ying Swei that was building in Barrow.
