Close view of complex barge type vessel with a registration Y.C.96 under tow going south in the channel with Barrow in the distance. Two small derricks for handling anchors both forward and aft. Two funnels fwd and aft perhaps to drive pumps or compressors. YC 96 was built by Vickers for the dockyard at Sheerness, it had a lifting power of 1200 tons - suitable for lifting D and E class submarines. Y.C.96 is registered as an Admiralty Yard Craft ( Boom Defence) In WW1 Ships of the Royal Navy 1914-1919 Support and Harbour Vessels
